About Glenn
Mr. Jacobson has over three decades of experience treating addictions and related disorders. He understands the profound interactions of drug dependency and contributing emotional and psychological factors, and can treat individuals in a comprehensive and integrated fashion. In addition, he has developed effective approaches to mood disorders such as depression and anxiety, and to Obsessive Compulsive Disorder.
Mr. Jacobson has also helped many couples get their relationships back on track, and especially helped them to learn to communicate effectively and resolve conflicts in non-confrontational ways. Finally, he has performed many dozens of child custody and other psychological evaluations.
Experience
In addition to his 30+ years of counseling experience, Mr. Jacobson has taught at several colleges and universities. Before embarking on a career in counseling and then psychology, he taught at Temple University, Rutgers University (Camden), Community College of Philadelphia, Adrian College, and Bucknell University. He also offered a course on Counseling through Penn State University’s certificate program in Addictions Counseling.
He has also been an administrator in the field. He was the Assistant Director at Central Susquehanna Diagnostic-Rehabilitative Services in Sunbury, the founder and Director of Green Ridge Counseling Center, and a County Director for Northwestern Human Services.
Education/Accreditation
Mr. Jacobson has a M.A. in Clinical Psychology from Bucknell University. In addition, he holds a Ph.D. in Religion from Temple University. As an undergraduate, he studied Religion at Colgate University.
He is a licensed psychologist in Pennsylvania, and has been a Certified Addictions Counselor. He also has extensive training in psychiatric medications through the Prescribing Psychologists’ Register, of which he was a charter member. He has also been trained in mediation.
Personal and Family Life
Glenn enjoyed a 42-year union with Stacy Hinck until her passing in 2018. He has two adult children, both of whom graduated from Lewisburg High.
Outside of the office, he enjoys sports, the arts, travel, and amateur photography. He coached youth soccer for many years. He has served on the board of AYSO and the Glenpool Club.
Glenn has also tried to serve the community. He has been active in local politics, serving on the County Committee for a number of years. He also volunteered as a Big Brother.
Specialties
I especially enjoy dealing with anxiety and OCD, and other mood disorders, including depression. I work with many couples who have difficulty communicating and resolving conflicts, or need to reconcile after hurt or betrayals. I have some thirty years of experience in treating substance abuse and dependence. Teens and young adults are among my favorite clients, too. I am looking to develop collaborations in the area of sports psychology, as well.
